Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services Gives Back to Shelter Pets
Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services (GSiVS) recently hosted a community donation drive, led by Dr. Rachel Flagiello and Dr. Catherine Walsh. The effort was organized under the newly created “GSiVS Gives Back” initiative and collected essential supplies for the Animal Care Centers of NYC- Staten Island (ACC), a local shelter dedicated to caring for animals in need.
This first drive reflects GSiVS’s commitment to making a lasting, positive impact in the Staten Island community. Donations, like towels and blankets, will directly improve the comfort and care of animals awaiting adoption.
Dr. Walsh explained the inspiration behind launching the program and its broader vision:
“We’ve put together a long list of organizations we hope to support over the next year, including women’s shelters, food pantries and homeless shelters, so that we can give back to the community in a more comprehensive way.”
For Dr. Flagiello and Dr. Walsh, supporting shelters is especially meaningful. Their shared dedication to animal welfare played a central role in stewarding this project.
“We both share a deep passion for shelter medicine,” said Dr. Flageillo. “Being able to take in abandoned and lost animals, give them the care they deserve, help them heal and ultimately be part of their journey to finding a loving home is incredibly meaningful to us. Every animal deserves a second chance, and we’re grateful to be part of that process.”
This donation drive is just the beginning. With a clear mission and dedicated team, GSiVS Gives Back is poised to make a lasting impact, one act of kindness at a time.
