Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin x Grief Support Group

Caring for pets also means caring for the people who love them. That’s why at the Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin (PESCM), the team facilitates a monthly Pet Loss Support Group for pet parents who are at various stages of loss and grief. Open and free to all, these gatherings provide a supportive environment where individuals can share their experiences, honor their pets’ lives and find comfort in community.

The group is led by Dr. Julie Austin, a clinical psychologist and pet bereavement coach who brings expertise and compassion to each session. One of our PESCM veterinarians also attends to provide medical insight and answer any lingering questions alongside Dr. Austin. Together, participants are encouraged to process grief in their own way at their own pace and surrounded by others who understand.
